TOUR TO THE UROS – TAQUILE FLOATING ISLANDS ONE DAY
20 minutes from the city of Puno by boat. The inhabitants of these islands have organized themselves as the Uros-Chulluni Community and although they still hunt and fish, they manage tourist directed activities in their territory. Their livelihood is based on the benefits of a unique plant The Totora reed. They use it to build their homes, boats and even the floating islands they live on, periodically adding new layers of reeds. Totora reed is a source of food for man and animals, a refuge for their hunting quarry and a vital tool for everyday activity.
About 35 km ( 4 hours ) from the city of Puno by boat, this island is unique because They are farmers, fishermen and weavers. Taquile is 6 km to 7 km long and has several Hills and many archeological ruins. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the people of Taquile is their solid sense of community, all the people offer rooms and board to visitors in their owns homes.
ITINERARY
We pick your up to your hotel and departure us at the Harbor in a motorized boat after 40 minutes trip, we arrive to the Isla Uros where we visit around 30 to 40 minutes approximately. Then we continue to the Isla Taquile. Here we visit to the town, then we are arriving to Puno.
