CIRCUITO MOLLEPATA- SALKANTAY – HIDROELECTRICA-MACHUPICCHU 7 DAYS AND 6 NIGHTS
DAY 1. CUSCO – SAYLLAPATA.
We leave Cusco at 7:00 am passing the Pampa de Anta, Limatambo that present an agricultural valley with plantations of corn, potatoes, vegetables and fruit trees.
Around 9:00 am we will be in TARAWASI (2380m.s.n.m) to visit this archaeological complex, then continue to MOLLEPATA (2850m.s.n.m) where we will arrive approximately at 10.30am, in this place we will meet our muleteers. Here we start with our walk to SAYLLAPATA (3470m.s.n.m). First camp (Bus 3 hours – walk 4 hours).
DAY 2. SAYLLAPATA – SUYRUQOCHA.
From our camp we can see the Nevado Umantay and part of the Valley Mollepata. During the tour we will pass the villages of: Onqopata, Cheqchekancha, Ch’allakancha, Soraypampa and Salkantay Pampa, then ascend the zig-zag “Seven Serpents” and camp in Suyroqocha Lagoon (4515m.snm) place to enjoy the unique landscape Since we are very close to the Snowy APU SALQANTAY 6270 masl (8 hours of walking).
DAY 3. SUYROQOCHA – WAYRAQMACHAY.
From the lagoon to the passage of APACHETA (4655m.s.n.m) it takes us only 25min. Where you will have the opportunity to leave your desires making small stone towers, in the style of our ancestors. The panoramic view is unique on both sides of the pass, with the presence of snow-capped mountains, particularly the SALQANTAY (6270m.s.n.m) and the Vilcabamba chain.
After photos and exploration of the place we descend to WAYRAQMACHAY (3900m.s.n.m) where we will camp and have the afternoon free (4 hours).
DAY 4. WAYRAQMACHAY – WIÑAYPOQO.
From here we will have an excellent view of the Salqantay and Umantay (small Alpamayo) a beautiful snowy of pyramidal form.
When we have walked half an hour, we enter the jungle, with presence of: bamboo, orchids, plants and hummingbirds. After a two-hour hike, we will cross the Chaullay river, then continue to Qolqapampa (2806m.s.n.m), a place suitable for lunch, rest and a bath in the hot springs. Later we will continue along the left bank of the Santa Teresa River, until we reach WIÑAYPOQO (2650m.s.n.m) where we will camp (7 hours).
DAY 5. WIÑAYPOQO – PLAYA – LUQMABAMBA – PATALLAQTA.
We continue descending until arriving at Playa then LUQMABAMBA, later we ascend until PATALLAQTA (Buenavista) from where we can see MACHUPIKCHU (7 hours).
DAY 6. PATALLAQTA – HIDRO – MACHUPIKCHU.
After our last camp we will descend about two hours to reach the hydroelectric power station of Machupicchu, from here we will continue walking along the railway line to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in a hotel (5 hours).
DAY 7. MACHUPIKCHU – CUSCO.
We will leave at 6:00 am on the first bus to visit the Inca City of Machupicchu.
Around 3:00 pm we will go down to Aguas Calientes to take our things and return by train to Cusco.
