This tour package takes you to an exotic journey that traverses the majestic ancient town of Cusco, on to the Sacred Valley and snowcapped mountains of the Inca Empire. You can then continue to the hidden city of Machu Picchu and explore the famed ruins in all their glory reminiscing the glorious past of the Incas. Then sail across the Amazon by riverboat and explore the Tambopata River and Tambopata National Reserve Tambopata River where you can marvel at the exotic rainforest full of unique animal and plant life.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – International Arrival Assistance
Arrive in Lima at any time. Our representative will be waiting for you at Lima airport with a customized sign with your name on it and private transfer to your hotel.
There are no planned activities, so check into the hotel and rest up – Overnight at the Hotel in Lima

Day 2 – Flight to Cusco and City Tour & Archeological ruins
Breakfast at hotel; pick up from the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital of the Incas. On arrival in Cusco, assistance at the airport and transport to your hotel, where the rest of the morning is free time to rest in hotel in order to avoid altitude sickness.
Pick up from the hotel at 1:20PM the tour will start from Cusco’s Main Square. On entering Cusco’s cathedral, you will be able to see the intricate woodwork and the colonial paintings that contain detailed Incan iconography. After that you will head to the Temple of the Sun or Qorikancha upon which the Convent of Santo Domingo has been built. According to a legend, this temple was entirely gold plated and many conquerors were impressed by its magnificence when they came here. The tour continues with visits to 4 archeological sites, starting with the Sacsayhuaman archeological complex, a masterpiece of Incan architecture in which you will see mindboggling huge stone blocks, almost 9 meters in height, placed perfectly. Next is the Qenqo temple, dedicated to animal worship. Then, Puca Pucara, another Incan archeological site located on top of a hill and used as a fort and administrative center. Last, there is Tambomachay, a place also known as the Inca Baths. Overnight at the Hotel in Cusco

Day 3 – Full day to Sacred Valley (Pisac, Ollantaytambo)
Breakfast at hotel; you will be picked up from your hotel at 7:45AM. Travel back in time to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a day that begins in Pisac, 31 km from Cusco. The old city, an Incan archeological site, is located at the top of a mountain, and there you will witness firsthand the stonemasonry skill of our ancient ancestors. Afterwards, you will descend to the town and walk through its colorful market; where you can buy beautifully crafted locally hand-made products. Afterwards, lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
Following, you set off for Ollantaytambo, an Incan military, religious, and agricultural center located at the top of a mountain. But unlike other small towns, this one has maintained its original Incan design, featuring stone buildings and narrow streets. It was a fortress and an administrative and urban center.
Stop in Ollantaytambo from where we catch the train to Aguas Calientes, upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, reception and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel in Aguas Calientes

Day 4 – Sunrise in Machu Picchu & Train back to Cusco
Breakfast at the hotel; at 5:00AM take first bus to Machu Picchu citadel, you will ride a bus to Machu Picchu archeological site and tour every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site: an unforgettable experience. Your guide will expertly direct you throughout the astounding ruins and its main streets. You can then wander around the town squares as well as climb the intricately carved stairways made of stone. Machu Picchu is considered as the world’s spiritual center by esoteric wisdom. Once the guided tour is over, you will have some free time to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate.
You will then have time to indulge in a few of the following activities on your own (not included in the price)
– Climb up Huayna Picchu and appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu from there.
– You will be given some time to walk till the Sun Gate or Inti Punku.
– Other optional activities in Aguas Calientes include a visit to the new local museum or to the hot springs.
Train to Cusco: You will descend to Aguas Calientes and, later on, board the train for the return trip to Cusco. On reaching Cusco train station, reception and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel in Cusco

Day 5 – Flight to Puerto Maldonado – Inotawa Lodge
Breakfast at the hotel; pick up from the hotel and transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado; you will be welcomed by a guide when you arrive at the airport. The guide will take you to the office which is located 5 minutes away from the airport at Puerto Maldonado. You will then head towards Puerto Nuevo on an unpaved road for a one hour long journey. After which you will go onboard a boat through which you will enter Bahuaja Sonene National Park and the Tambobata National Reserve’s buffer zone. You will have a view of vegetations of ficus, ceropias, canes and more.
You will also observe wildlife throughout your journey. Your arrival at the lodge at Inotawa will be welcomed by the staff. Around noon, you will be accompanied by a guide on a walk through the jungle where you will observe birds like wild turkeys and quails, as well as flora like kapok trees and ironwood. You may also witness spiders like tarantulas during night fall, along with other nocturnal animals. Overnight at the Inotawa Lodge

Day 6 – La Torre Clay Lick & Tres Chimbadas Lake
You will awake really early in the morning to go for a 15 minute walk upriver for observing animals’ activities. You will be able to see parakeets, parrots, macaws and other mammals while they feed from the La Torre Clay Lick. This bank of mud has 4 meter height and 20 meter width. It is very significant for the animals as it is the main source of food for them. You will be served a delicious breakfast when you return to the lodge and after a short rest, you will head towards Tres Chimbadas Lake.
This is situated at a distance of 15 minutes from Inotawa. You will hike deep in the jungle with your guide for 45 minutes. A catamaran with a single oar will take you on the rest of your journey. You will see a variety of birds, vegetations along the river bank, witness different mammals and reptiles. You may also be able to do fishing while on the catamaran. You will return to the lodge around noon and head over to the houses of the local families. They will tell you about their life, traditions and ways of living. They will allow you to try different exotic fruits like Yucca, Arazá, Copazú and many more which are daily utilized by these local people. Overnight at the Inotawa Lodge

Day 7 – Cocococha Lake trek
This two and a half hour trek is very interesting. We will pass different types of jungle with key species to biodiversity of Madre de Dios such as the Rubber tree and the Brazil nut. Cocococha Lake is located deep in the Tambopata National Reserve and covers an area of approximately 60 ha surrounded by swampland lowlands and hills. This change in elevation and vegetation in combination with minimal human influence leads to a very high level of biodiversity. It also forms an important habitat for many of the endangered and emblematic species such as macaws, black caimans and giant river otters that can feed and reproduce in peace here.
We will be back at Inotawa Lodge in time for lunch. After some rest we will go visit the farm in the afternoon.
At night, you will head back to the river to witness the night life of the animals and different species. While enjoying the jungle sounds, you may be able to see the night animals and species roaming around the river banks.

Day 8 – Departure from Lodge – Flight to Lima – Connect at International Flight
Breakfast at lodge; transfer by boat – Lodge to Tambopata River port then to Puerto Maldonado, we retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures. Flight to Lima where you can connect at the same airport for International flight
Most groups will take the flight from Puerto Maldonado to Lima connecting from there to international flights.
